History
Founded on April 20, 1898 with 74 charter members, The Onondaga Golf and Country Club is rich in history. The club's first headquarters was located on the Hiscock Farm. About three miles from the city on the new line of Syracuse and the Suburban Railroad, its first building was a simple wagon shed which served as a locker room. At the end of 1898 a modest clubhouse was built for $300. In August of 1899, the local paper noted "there are at least 137 men and 58 women in Syracuse who play golf and there is scarcely a city in the country of the same size that can boast a better record than this."
